My daughter loves to read.  We make it a habit to read daily, usually right before bed for a quiet activity.  We definitely have our seasonal favorites. Here are our favorite Halloween books. They are appropriate for toddlers and preschool aged children.

Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman

This is our absolute favorite!  The pictures are so cute and the meaning behind the story line of teamwork to accomplish a goal is so wonderful for kiddos.  There is an audio to go along with this book that narrates the story with music and cute voices for each character.   It is so adorable.  If you already have or buy this book, I highly recommend going to youtube.com and searching for The Big Pumpkin to check out the audio.

I read this book as a child and listened to the cassette each October.  I am so excited to now read this with my child.  I also give this book as a gift at baby showers to help little ones grow their libraries.

It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff  and Felicia Bond

This is a fun book in which our mouse friend from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie prepares for Halloween by painting faces on all of his pumpkins. This book teaches emotions through facial expressions.

The Littlest Mummy by Brandi Dougherty

The Littlest Mummy is a  cute little book that teaches us that even the smallest and youngest of us have an important place in our families and communities.  The pictures are adorable and the message is valuable.

The Spooky Wheels on the Bus by J. Elizabeth Mills

This fun book is the Halloween version of the traditional Wheels on the Bus.  Your little one is sure to love it!

Pop-up Peekaboo Pumpkin by Clare Lloyd

My gal loves this book!  She gets so excited every time she lifts a flap to reveal the surprise characters.  Her most favorite part is the last page. What is hiding behind the pumpkin?

Creak! Squeak! Halloween by Clare Lloyd and Dawn Sirett

Creak! Squeak! Halloween is an adorable book with light sensitive sensors.  When you open the flaps you’ll hear spooky and cute Halloween noises!  This so fun and helps set the Halloween mood.

Little Blue Truck’s Halloween by Alice Schertle

The Little Blue Truck series is a favorite of ours.  In Little Blue Truck’s Halloween, the characters are dressed in their costumes and are difficult to recognize.  Who are these animal friends behind the costumes?

Enjoy these books as much as we do!
